Nimbus is a private web browser with a basic, on-device ad-blocking filter. It lets you browse websites inside the app, keep a list of favorite sites (Quick Access), and see your recent tabs and browsing history. Nimbus is not affiliated with any website you choose to visit.
The following is stored locally on your device only, and is not transmitted to our servers:
You can clear this data at any time from the App's settings. Nimbus does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide a profile of any kind, and we do not operate a server that stores your browsing history.
When you type a search term (rather than a full web address) into the address bar, Nimbus sends
that text to DuckDuckGo's search service (duckduckgo.com) to fetch results. This is the
same as typing your search directly into DuckDuckGo in any browser. DuckDuckGo's own privacy policy
governs how it handles that request. We do not see or store your search terms ourselves.
Nimbus is a browser: the App loads whatever website you navigate to inside its in-app browser view. Any data you submit to that website (forms, logins, cookies) is governed by that website's own privacy policy, not this one. We do not intercept, log, or receive a copy of your browsing content.
Nimbus uses Google Firebase for:
These services may collect device and app identifiers, general device information, and diagnostic data, and transmit it to Google. See Google's Firebase privacy documentation for details on how Google processes this data.
Nimbus includes the Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) SDK as part of its ad-serving library. The current version of Nimbus does not display any advertisements. The SDK library is nonetheless present in the App and initializes as part of normal app start-up, which — per Google's own Mobile Ads SDK behavior — can involve processing device/advertising identifiers even when no ad is requested or shown. If a future update begins showing ads, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly, and the change will be reflected in the App's store listing.
The ad library also bundles connectors for other ad-mediation and attribution networks (including Adjust, AppsFlyer, and Meta/Facebook Audience Network). None of these are configured with an active account in this build, so they do not activate or collect data.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
| Permission | Why Nimbus requests it |
|---|---|
| Internet / Network state | To load the web pages you browse to, and for the SDKs above to operate. |
| Notifications | To show the persistent "Protection is active" notification while Ad Block is running (required by Android for foreground services). |
| Run in the foreground | Keeps the on-device Ad Block filter and its protection timer running reliably while enabled. |
| Start on device boot | Re-enables Ad Block protection automatically after you restart your device, only if you had it turned on. |
Nimbus does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, SMS, call logs, or storage/media permissions, and does not use Android's Accessibility, screen-overlay, usage-access, or notification-listener APIs.
The Ad Block feature is a basic, best-effort content filter that runs on your device. It can reduce some in-page advertisements and trackers, but it is not guaranteed to block every advertisement or tracker on every website, and some sites may still show ads or detect ad-blocking. Ad Block does not send your browsing activity to us; the filtering happens on-device.
Data described in Section 2 is stored only on your device for as long as the App is installed, or until you clear it yourself (Settings → Clear browsing data, or by uninstalling the App). We do not retain a copy of it. Data sent to third-party services (Sections 3.1–3.4) is retained according to that provider's own policy.
Nimbus is a general-purpose web browser intended for a general audience, not designed for or directed at children. Because a browser can load any website a user navigates to, we do not knowingly market this App to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us using the details below and we will address it.
You can clear locally stored browsing data, tabs, and Quick Access at any time inside the App. You can uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data. Depending on your location, you may have additional rights over data held by the third-party services listed in Section 3 (Google/Firebase, DuckDuckGo) — please refer to those providers' own privacy policies to exercise those rights.
We may update this Privacy Policy as the App changes — for example, if a future version begins showing advertisements or adds new functionality. We will update the effective date above when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
